Oh goodness! That reminds me of something wayyy back in the day... Do u guys remember when Claire's Boutiques actually SOLD the piercing guns? They came in all these colors like pink and baby blue, like it was some toy u get off the shelf! The gun came with the marker and needle. This was in the early 90's when double piercing was first 'in'...well a suburban girl trend.
My friend was victum to one and I remember her telling me how her cousin was going to do it for her. She was showing me how it was loaded and I remember the needle wiggling all over the place! The result of her piercing was awful...instead of the needle going stright through, it went upward/slanted!! It bled profusly and she just ended up taking it out and just waited for it to scar over.
Yes times have surely changed...for the better!

Wasn't it nice to know then that we could maim ourselves in an asthetically pleasing way? Grrrrrr.

OMG I have seen them recently. They don't look like the ones they pierce you with, but they have a little spring loaded thing that breaks when you press the button. This guy in my dorm last year bought two and pierced his ears so crooked and they got SO infected. They are tiny piercing guns, maybe 2X1 inches or the size of a big eraser. Ugh I was disgusted when I saw the display of them..."hehe this is safe and i don't have to pay $20 to get my ears pierced hehe" Disgusting.

I had both of the sets of holes in my earlobes done with piercing guns: one when I was about 4 and the other several months ago (since I was poor and couldn't afford over $100 for a second set of holes).

Needless to say the second set of holes still hurt like hell and won't heal completely. Not to mention that they put the backs on too tight the first time around and when I came back to have them loosened the woman pulled the earring out trying to fix it (2 days after having them pierced) and had to repierce the damn thing a second time.

This is what I get for trying to save some cash by taking the risk. I was tempting fate and I learned my lesson.

At least I learned from my own stupidity.

They STILL sell them, actually.
I feel like ripping them off the shelf, except for the fact that I won't set foot in any of those kinds of stores.
Long story of no respect for them AT ALL.
