I read BuFfYpRinCeSS's post about aftercare, but I would like a little more information.

I've had my hood piercing for a little over two days now. I understand that there will be swelling. About how long should this swelling last?

I am keeping it very, very clean, however I am still worried about getting an infection. Is there a larger chance of getting one in this area or is it about the same as your average piercing?

i didnt have any swelling with my VCH, so i cant help there. As far as infection though, i have had mine for 4 months and through everything (female stuff i mean) I have had no problems with irritation or infection. If you keep it clean with sea salt soaks you should be fine.

Mine is two weeks old. The swelling lasted for over a week. I kind of freaked out about it and went back to my piercer after five days, but she said that it was totally normal and could last for a week or longer. It's now completely back to normal. As I understand it, the chances of infection down there are minimal, since the genital area keeps itself fairly clean. I do salt soaks every morning and cleanings with very gentle soap in the shower every night. No problems at all so far.

Thanks for the tips. I am still swollen but I guess every one is different, like they say. I haven't had any problems so far. I think it will heal just fine.
