does the type of jewelry affect healing time? My piercer said a screw would hel in about 4-6 weeks but a ring would take from 2 months - 2 years....

it might be because the ring could get bumped around more, so it could take longer to heal.

Although I do believe that nostril screws do let the piercing heal quicker (if the piercer knows how to use a screw correctly), no cartilage piercing can heal in a matter of weeks...they take months no matter what kind of jewelry is used.

rriigghhtt...
back on the subject of nose piercings, you're piercing won't heal in a month...don't care what anyone says...don't let that get to you because it most probably will look healed after a month and a bit and you might decide to change the jewlery or what-not. Big Mistake!
I would figure that it would take the approx. same amount of healing time for either types of jewlery for that particular piercing.
personally, I would have liked a tight little ring or cbr kuz I had some mechanical stress with my screw.

I've been having some problems with my nostril piercing that i've had for about a month now. What do you mean by mechanical stress? What happened?

Mechanical stress describes jewelry that either gets moved around too much or jewelry that is pinching pushing against the skin too much.

Do you realize how offensive this is? Or are you really that clueless?

Back on track... I think you need a new piercer. As John said, no nostril piercing will heal in 4-6 weeks. So... her information is dead wrong.

go misanthropy!
LOL
yeah...mechanical stress, it kept getting knocked in my sleep and it would always come out *almost out*...so traumatizing...I would wake up in the middle of the night and my nose piercing is dangling down and bleeding and I would flip out and be afraid to push it back in! Yes, I am a loser...
But it did cause a lot of scar tissue on both sides, now being reduced with proper wearing of the jewlery and some special, magical synergie laugh
