Umm...what is that?

I have a conch piercing, pierced at 10 ga and with 12 ga jewelry. It seems that the same stuff that drains out, the white-yellow liquid, is somehow more attached to me skin than it should be. A small piece of skin has turned yellow-white. It's broeder by the ring on one side, a small cut from the needle on another side, and attached on the other. I got this piercing Wednesday. The skin is still red around the area. It seems to be healing normall in every other way. I don't play with it, I keep it clean, clean off the crusties, and I DO rotate, which I wish I could stop, but I'm worried about this little white spot. It looks the same color as a pimple, but so does the drainage that the APP says is normal. Should I use a chemical to dry it up or disinfect it, should I worry about it, leave it alone, see my piercer, see a doctor? I don't really see how it could be infected, since I don't play with it and keep it clean, and I only spin it while cleaning it. Can anyone help?

(think of all the things it probably touches in the day-pillow, hairs, whatnot) good luck

Also, the pussy goo that oozes out is occassionally attached. that is actually normal, and, as long as there are no other signs of infection, i wouldn't worry about it.

I hope you're joking. S/He meant the pus-like (pussy being an adjective) goo.

i wouldnt worry about it too much skank, you sound like youre doing all the right things, minus the rotating (bad skank, 'slap on hand' stop that) anyways, i have 4 conch piercings to date, and they were all kinda funkified in the beginning. anybody will tell you a cartiladge piercing is hard to heal and the conch is a BISATCH! so dont stress buddy, itll be ok.

Remember, needles do not remove a plug of tissue. So when thick cartilage is pierced, the cartilage is stretched over the needle and often times there is a small lump of tissue that will either reabsorb around your piercing, or it will die and fall off.

You guys are being really helpful. I think I have a white volacona in the back, where the same thing happened, only it looks healthier, except for the being a different color than the rest of the skin. If anyone else has useful info, I'd love to hear it. thanks a lot.

woah, my bad, i didn't realize "pussy" looked like "pussy". Sorry about that. i DID, in fact, mean pus-like, and, for the record, the word pussy when referring to female anatomy pisses me off, too.

"a white volcano in the back..."
This sounds a lot like a Keloid, but Keloids are almost always darker in color, not lighter...so I'm going to guess that you're dealing with Hypertrophic Scarring, which does go away once the pressure causing it is relieved.

Pretty much. Heavy cartilage is difficult to pierce and difficult to heal.
If dermal punching were legal, that would be the best option.
Anyway, time will tell. With enough time and the correct jewelry, most of these will heal and look good.

I just wanted to let everyone know, the volcano has gone down a lot, and I've looked up hypertrophic scarring. it was never hard, and it wasn't really a thickening around the piercing, it looked more like a little bit of skin was swallowing the ring, but it's almost gone now. I stopped rotating, except when I am soaping it, which I don't mean to do, but when I try to clean the crusties I accidentally drag the ring through. So I wash it with Dial and rub the crusties off with that 2-3 times a day with a cotton ball soaked in really hot water. I take Vitamin C and Motrin. I stopped using alcohol and bactine, when I read someone say "you keep the outside clean, and your body will do the rest." Whoever said that, thanks for making so much sense. They're both healing great now.
