Considering some of the recent threads by snot nose youngsters  , an interesting topic would be how long people have had piercings.
My first lobe was in 1981, while a junior in high school. By the time I graduated from college in 1987, I had both lobes pierced a couple times and one helix. My right eyebrow (retired a long time ago) was my first "non-ear" piercing, in 1988.

38 here, and proud of it! I agree, Jen, in our prime Besides having my lobes pierced since 12 & 18, I got my first navel piercing when I was 35, my carts and labia done at 37, my nips just shy two weeks of 38, and had my navel redone 3 days ago at 38! Oh, first tattoo two months ago - see, life does go on after your 20's - rock on!

I never thought I would be the oldest to admit it. I have been 41 for a while now so just ahead of Sknydpr. I did have my lobe pierced in '85 and my cartilage in '88. I thought about the frenum a LONG time (over 10 years) and got that for my 40th birhtday. I felt my oldest when I was 25 and have gotten younger feeling ever since

I'm an old fart too! 34 here!! Hmm. lesseee... I had my first ear piercing done in 1975, then I had my 2nd and 3rd one done in 82 and 83 with a *shudder* gun! My third hole still hurts when I wear something in it too! Damn gun! I got my first tattoo in 1990... had it reinked and added to in 93, then significantly added to in 2000. Now it rocks. I got my navel piercing and my VCH done in May of this year! I think my next work will be another tattoo... I'd like to have the black design work that runs underneeth my first tattoo mirrorred down the other side of my butt. I'll have to post pics. It's bad ass. (pun intended.)

Old is such a relative term, you are only as old as you feel and act.

Oh, please, guys--you think you're old? Hah! I'm 46. My first tat was around age 30 and my first piercing (non-lobe) was my navel at age 44. So there.
Actually, I think a lot about the whole ageism thing. Ageism, like any other kind of prejudice, really burns my bum. And anyway, how old do I feel? Sometimes pretty damn old--I got 4 grandkids, you know, and my youngest daughter just turned 21 (whew!). But the things I like are all "younger" type things. I find that I don't have much in common with most people my age. Most of my friends are in their 20s. And, anyway, I'm still pretty juicy, yum!

one of the things i like about coming here is the fact that there are ppl of all ages, from all over the globe, who have had very different experiences, but we all get along great (for the most part :p ) there arent too many places ive been too that i can say all that about, so i think we owe our selves a pat on the back, so to say

I am nearing 28... So, I am almost in my 30's. Unlike the gals here on this board, it totally freaks me out. I am becoming obsessed with lines, wrinkles, etc. I don't want to get old, I think I am the only person who was too busy crying like a baby on her 21st birthday to actually get drunk. I don't know why I am like this either. I think part of it is, when I was 7, I asked my mom how old she was, she said 28, and I freaked, I kept thinking "OMG that is so old, I don't want my mom to die!" And I guess it just stuck with me... I try not to let it get to me, but sometimes I seriously get wierd about it. In person, people think I am way young, like in my teens, so that can be nice(and way annoying sometimes too though)but, once in chat some one asked how old I was, and I told him to look at my pics and guess... He said between 28 and 33, and I freaked, I mean, I was like "OMG I am sooo old, I look even older, OMG..." Then, I obsessed about it and asked others who entered chat later to guess, and one said "Wow, I dunno, but I like older women!" I was like----> , and ever since, I have been talking to docs about peels, botox, and face lifts... I think I am getting a bit of OCD over this... I got my ears pierced in 1975. Then my nostril in umm... 1990 maybe, but I took it out, had it done again in 1995, then took it out... Just recently got it redone.

Cloudlb - I completely agree with you. There's a difference between how old we are chronilogically (sp?), and how old we feel according to our "inner clock". Even though I'm almost 36, I still feel about 24 (younger on some days).

Wray I'm not saying this to make you feel better but I've always thought you were a little younger than 28 anyway.

I always thought that when you hit 30 you're officially an adult. Well, in my eyes at least since most people are settled into a completely independent and self-sufficient life. At 30, no one can really deny you're an adult. I'm 22 and I doubt my parents or anyone older than I am would really think I'm adult unless they were talking in the legal sense of the word. Plus, there's no way I think of myself as someone who's experienced a whole lot outta life yet.
Also I work with people in their 40s-50s so my definition of "old" is like anything past 60.
Hmm, could be that I have a crazy perception of "old" though! LOL.

To be truthful, my motto for years has been "You're only young once, but you can be immature forever."

well, just a note, and it's probably counter to the majority thought anyway-- see, I wanna be a latin professor, which is also not normal but there's one woman on this earth who I want to BE when I grow up... I would consider myself unbelievably accomplished and wise and wonderful and-- if I could be just half of her. she's one of my latin profs herself, and my frosh year of college, she turned sixty. she's absolutely in her prime, and she's SO energetic, and wild, and crazy, and just... worldly. she can empathize with anything. so I see the peak of my life as being at the point she's at-- wonderful family, time to do as she pleases, enough money to be comfortable, and just... that's what I want. I would hate to be twenty for the rest of my life, and have only experienced what I've experienced thus far. so sixty... sixty's young. I don't know what all of you are talking about. :hugs: d
