Hitting period.... in my mind is just uncalled for. If you have to resort to physical violence because you can't use words ( not that words are less hurtful but you get my drift), then please get your behind in Anger Management 101. Theres absolutely nothing productive that comes out of physical violence but a hurting body and/or ending up in jail.

I hit him on the knee once, and I felt so awful. THat was the first time he cheated on me. The most violent I have ever been was when I have been cheated on the 2nd time by him, so I threw a cup full of pencils at him, a romote, books, ect. He didn't stop me cuz he knew he deserved it.

I have been lucky that I haven't been hit by a guy. Most of guys I was with are against it, but who knows...maybe they never have been provoked badly. But when I do ever get hit, I am calling my mother and she will beat him up! :p

Yeah? The United States came out of violence, violence ended fascism in Europe. Vilence has a chequered history of failure and success but always is a part of the human psyche. If you are against voilence then you are against extremes. Passion is extreme. Haven't you ever made voilent love? Nothing wrong with voilence. Violence that is positive can be a good thing, only the bleeding heart do-gooders have (Just for the rcord, I sneezed violently here.)tarred violence with the negativity brush and made it all sound bad. Ask any Mother what they feel when their children are threatened; mild disregard? Someone spits on me in the street and I'm supposed to act reasonably? give the chap a 'jolly good talking to'? There is a place in this world for violence, it's part of the make up of the planet and of most living things.

I love what you add to conversations TJ. You always point out the things that no one else thought of...it makes people think harder about whatever they were arguing about. Or maybe you're just trying to start trouble...sometimes it's hard to tell.

Well, I'd have put it differently, but I've felt the same for a long time. You start a fight with me, I will defend myself; I don't care where your gonads are located.

Fortunately, I've never had to hit anybody, male or female.

I wasnt refering to our fabulous violent world that we live on ( believe me.. im aware that this isnt a happy pappy Utopia).. I was refering to when two people in any kind of relationship resort to physical abuse.

In reality it's called the interconnectedness of things, as espoused by Dirk Gently. We try to isolate events and behaviour in an effort to simplify them to the point where they can be 'explained' and categorised as belonging to a type. In reality there are so many factors involved in every little thing that you would go mad trying to take them all into account. So I'd go for the burger, evgery time!

Otay, I would hit a girl. However only if I felt that she was actually trying to hurt me. Once I got her to stop or I felt safe I would stop. And I def. agree that anyone who says its wrong to hit a girl is being sexiest. If anyone is ballsy enough to take a swing at me and actually try to knock me down I feel no shame in knocking the shit out of em. Boy/girl has nothing to do with it.

Glad to see chivalry isn't dead!
