Way back when I had my nostril pierced (the first time), I thought I just wanted a tiny little sparkle on there too. I brought a friend's nose screw to the piercer's and asked if he could use that (not knowing what I was doing... friend's jewelery??' what the heck?) and he said he could. I think it got "sterilized" in a little puddle of alcohol, and then he didn't even know how to put it in the piercing properly, and that was uncomfortable, to say the least. After a while of him struggling with the screw, I asked if he could just put whatever he normally uses in there, and he put in a 16g CBR. I did't know what size it was at the time, but it was bigger than I'd wanted, and also didn't fit properly.
Anyway, the whole part about my experience with a bad piercer is unrelated. What happened though, was that after wearing bigger jewelery in my nose, I decided I liked how it looked. (I have three holes in that nostril now.)
If your piercer doesn't have a tiny gem for her, I'm sure it won't be all that bad if she has to wear something larger for the healing period.
