Okay, well I'm 13 and I've wanted my Tragus pierced for the longest time. You may be wondering what this has to do with the Labret piercing, right? Okay, well my mom and I were in the car yesturday, and I had a fake tongue ring on (To fool everyone) And I was joking around and put it on my chin (Where you get the 'Labret' pierced), and i asked her how it looked. To my suprise, she said it looked good! Then, I asked her the unthinkable. " Can I get that pierced instead of my Tragus? " Hah. At the time, I was getting ready for her to yell at me, because she's totally against facial piercings. But again, to my suprise, she said she'd RATHER have me get my LABRET pierced, instead of my Tragus!? confused So yeah, that's the whole story. I'm getting it done sometime in December (Yeah, very far away) but that's only because she says I have to do good in school (Before I can get it) So until then, I'm trying to do a bunch of research so it won't get infected or anything.

So does anybody have any advice on this?
Expierences?
How much did it hurt 1 - 10 (10 being the highest)

Umm...
Oh, and is it a pain to brush your teeth with it?
Is it hard to eat?
How bad does it look (With the crusties) on it, because I'll be having it in school, and I don't want to be pointed at and everybody going, 'Eww! What is that on your face?!"

Haha.
And one last question: How much does it usually cost?

Thanks guys.

aren't you too young ? i think the age limit @ the piercing studio i go to is 16yrs.

pain should not be a factor.
didn't bother me while brushing my teeth.
eating, you get used to it quick.
crusties also depends from person to person.. and trust me, with a metal ball on you face people are going to point & stare.
price, mine was i believe $35.00 w/ jewelry.

Yeah I was thinking way to young as well.

But to answer your questions anyway...

I have had my labret for um...6 or 7 months now, healed very easily. Pain wise was one of my higher ones..maybe a 5/10. Nothing that you cannot handle. I got my VCH and labret done on the same day and my labret was much more painful than the VCH but I have a very high pain tolerance as well. Anyway, no it is not hard to brush your teeth with it nor is it hard to eat. The first few days it will be fairly swollen and fairly sore so you may have to use more care when eating but should have no problems. Genearlly you cannt notice the crusties unless you are really looking for them or they are like all over the place. I would wash mine off in the shower every morning and wouldn't notice them again until the next morning. Mine was $40 bucks and then a tip on top of it. Cost will largely depend on where you live.

Have you checked that your schools dress codes allow them? If not you will want to invest in a clear quartz retainer.

In my experiences pain has been either 0/10 (unnoticable) to 4/10 (minimal).

At my local shop it costs £20 incl jewellery change over after swelling, but it varies greatly from shop to shop.

Im pretty sure my school is fine with it. If not, too bad for them. I could always take it out later when it heals.

They take a few months to fully heal, and even after that there's no guarantee of how long you can leave them out. Some people (like myself) have their piercings start to close almost immediately.

You can get pierced with a clear quartz retainer though which would just eliminate this whole issue.

Well i kind of want people to see it. =) But afterwards, I could always just get the retainer for it.

But do you think I'm too young for it?
I'm really responsible with my piercings, so I think a Labret shouldn't be a problem.

But it is sort of strange, a 13 year old getting pierced...?

Doesn't hurt much.
You get used to brushing your teeth.
The ball normally hides most crusties but it depends on how much your body produces.
Mine was $45

I think you are a bit young but if your mom is ok with it and you can find a GOOD piercer to do it I say go for it.

That's kind of tough though. Many good piercers won't pierce someone underage, with or without parental conscent.

I think 13 is too young even with parental consent for most shops... With a labret you'll need the piercer to place it so that it will not put pressure on your gums and I don't know that anyone who will pierce a 13 year old will really care about placement. Sorry, but that's just my opinion. Maybe when you are older you'll be able to go somewhere reputable. Believe me, I know it sucks to wait to get these things done but in the end it's worth it if it means it will be done properly smile
