$5 for a lip piercing?

OK. So, I'm in Owensboro Kentucky (asscrack of the world), and a bunch of my friends and I were planning on traveling two hours to go to Vincennes, IN to get some holes!
The reason we were planning on traveling two hours is because theres a place (professional) that does $5 piercings (for rings, the studs cost...maybe $15-20?) And although I think it sounds EXTREMELY SKETCHY... i know a lot of people in this town that have done it and came out fine.
One of my friends told me the reason they can charge $5 is because they get so many people there since it's so cheap (which I'm guessing is true, if we're willing to travel two hours) But I don't see how this can be true... I mean, don't they have to pay for all of their equipment.... wouldn't it come out even at the end of the day? (I mean, theyre charging $5.00 a hole, but they're buying all their needles, and everything else needed for the piercing).
I just wanted to know what everyone thinks... I'm new to piercings (besides ears) and I need to know what to look for and what to ask... Should I go there to see for myself if it's crap or not, or just not bother?
(sorry for the length!)

Yeah, it sounds sketchy as hell. I'd not set foot in a place like that if I were you.

I wouldn't pay $5 for a piercing, and I really wouldn't drive that far for such a cheap piercing. If I am driving into a shop (which I regularly do here: 2+ hours), it better be a damn good shop with proven quality and excellent piercers. You might want to ask around for piercing shops in that area.

Definitely not a good idea. Back when I was younger and dumber, I got my tongue done at a place with a $20 holiday special thing going. The place was packed and, highly highly respected in the area, and in a bunch of the piercing magazines. But...there was only one piercer on staff that day...and..come now, after 10 hours of nonstop piercings, somethings apt to get sloppy. Needless to say its the one bad piercing I've ever had, he didn't check the veins well enough I later found out after gushing blood for days, so the deal wasn't really a deal after all. sure, you might get lucky and be fine, but do you really want to play the odds on that? When you do find a shop, check not only their reputation with former clients, but ask about their spore results for the autoclave and take a really close look around. If it looks at all dirty. don't have anything done there. And, as i pointed out, their cheap rate may keep them busy, but...busy can be bad when a one or a few souls are really overworked.

I definately wouldn't go. The jewelry is probably crap. If I drove 2 hours for a piercing, which I usually do, I'd make it a GOOD place.
For all you know they reuse needles or something disgusting like that.

Thanks for the help everyone!
It really isnt the price I'm driving far for though, its the fact that it's the only place that I know of close (besides the one shop in Owensboro that everyone says is awful {everyone I've ever known to go there has come out with infections})
I figured that since I'm not positive about my piercing, that if I hated it, that'd only be five bucks gone.
But I REALLY don't want infections or awful pain and bleeding for weeks and weeks... So I'm pretty sure I'll just have to find another place... wherever that may be.
