Another consideration....which ear (if any) do you favor for talking on the phone? Pick the other...the phone is one of the prime unrealized sources of infection.

Ear piercings are much easier cared for...You can also get that done now, and then in a few years start working your way up just think a couple of months from now when you friends are all whineing about things going wrong with there navels or stuff they aren't able to do, you'll be like my ear is already healed, and i can go do...*insert thing here* this whenever i want!

You should wait a few more years because at 13 your body hasn't fully developed. I have known some people to get a navel piercing at your age and because they gained some weight after that it soon migrated. I am not saying that it will happen but it is a possibility.

Ummm!! UnHoly here a question (not to sound rude but)... If your friends jumps offs a bridge would u jump too? With out a reason?? If you answer no, then theres no real reason why you should get your belly pierced. If one of your parents dosent want u too. I personallly think your to young, im 16, and im not gonna lie too you. I think if I was 13 with a belly~button. I'll probably think hey im the coolest girl in the school. Cuz thas whats just going thru your mind. I truthfully think no 13 year old would really take precautions on there piercings. Besides if you have read most of the posts these people have written down. You will understand its for your own good and to be safe. So like most of the others have said wait a while. Its not going to kill you.

I guess I'll chime in and say you are to young. I at 18 got mine done and my parents were furious. They got over it cuz it was with my money and i was old enough. But Your parents know whats best for you and only trying to protect you. If you are still convinced that you want it done let your father research it a little. Maybe you should start out small with ear rings. Let them get used to metal sticking out of your body. I still haven't told them about 2 of my piercings and i have had them over a month. BUT DON'T GO BEHIND THEIR BACKS. I got my Left ear pierced for the second time behind thier backs and i was grounded for 3 weeks. Your parents arn't evil. Just protective of thier little girls body. Good luck but remember your body is going through a lot of changes you can always do it when your 18. You have plenty of time don't be so eager to do adult things.

Unholy, I'm glad you listened to the advice, that makes you a lot smarter than most of the people who ask that same question.
The rook (thats what you decided on, right?) is a great idea! Just choose the side that you don't sleep on, or talk on the phone with. Rooks are usually peirced with captive bead rings, or curved barbells, I think. Sometimes it depends on your peircer's preference. Either way you'll be fine, and can change it once it heals.

Hey, and not only did you show your maturity here for listening to the advice, and using complete sentences, if you dad lets you get this, you will show him through your dedication to caring for it. I can maybe understand your reason for trying to hurry up and be mature .... I just noticed your from Vegas...not to stereotype anyone ....please do not get offended....but, I think perhaps having a little peer preasure and seeing the ritzy-glitzy life of alot of "vegas girls" with piercings....etc...you may find the "need" to have to have this done now.....its not necessary....and Please coming from a parent....please wait.
Vegas is a funny place..lots of teens get into things they shouldnt at very young ages...clubs, piercings...drugs only becuase of what they see around them....I am not saying that Vegas is a bad place or that your parents are bad...they obviously are not since they will not allow you to do that yourself "right now"...they are protecting you from the world that Vegas is .... please do not hurry to grow up....and please focus on your future....wait.....pierce it when your old enough....dont grow up so darn fast....and make the right choices for yourself and your future....your parents as much as you cant stand the fact are only trying to help you out and save you from making the wrong choices. I am not saying you are going to go out right after and sign up at the closest strip club....but, this type of "I want and I have to have behavior" is what leads up to that.
Understand them....they are your parents...they have been there done that already with their lives and want to spare you.
