Sorry if this has been asked before. I've discovered that I've developed the so-called "dreaded red bump" above the piercing in my right lobe. Now, I understand that its probably due to physical stress. My question, however, is does the physical stress that causes the bump only affect the piercing when its fairly new? I.E., if I were to switch out jewelry and it goes away, would it come back at a later point once it has completely healed if I go back to a circular barbell or CBR?

Thanks.

Well from my experiences yes it can come back. It can come back if you bump it or get to snagged on anything. Really anything that will irritate or cause trauma.

Of course it doesn't ALWAYS come back but yes it can.

Sure it can come back, espically with cartilage piercings. My 10 year old helix has gotten a bump or two over the years.

i get the dreaded red bumps, and in my experiece they do come back. you just have to keep care of it and keep on top of cleaning it so that they go away quicker.
