Hi,

I had the labret done a little over 48 hours ago, and the flatback is pressing in and is kind of sunk into the lip (it is an almost vertical labret, and the flatback is *just* inside the top of my lip).
I have quite full lips, and I know it is a little swollen, but im wondering if I need a longer post.

I have a 10mm in there, bet it is TIGHT....and Im worried. I am icing it and all, but im worried about going to sleep and waking up with a fulling embedded flatback frown

I cant get to the piercer for about 36 hours.....is this normal? Do I need some more length at this stage??

Thanks in advance!

It shouldn't be that tight. You should have it changed ASAP.

And with that placement, a straight barbell with small balls on the inside may be a better choice than a flatback. I don't know though, I can't see the piercing.

You stretch your piercings, not "gauge" them. Gauge is also not a word for jewelry.

do you think it can wait a day and a half? not sure if I should skip work and have it seen to immediately, or just wait for my day off.

I dont know WHY they did it almost vertical, I didnt ask for that, but I got it now and I kinda like the placement, and was thinking od a barbell when I am able to change it. its 10mm now, how much longer should i get it? also, how do they change it when its so fresh???

Why can't you just go right now? I don't know if a piercing would be worth skipping work to you.

They autoclave the jewelry, and change it very gently.

Im in Australia, its 2:40am...LOL
Im just trying to figure out if this thing is going to get swallowed by my lip withi 36 hours.
Its not actually "growing" over it....its just too tight and is pressed in creating a little divet. Could it grow over beyond saving in the next day and a half?

Hmm, I really don't know about this, mine was really tight, sinking in a little bit, but it never grew over, or got swallowed up.

I would call into work and say you may be late, tell them you have a doctors appointment or something :p Then go in after the changeover. But if you can't do that, you might be ok, everyones different so we can't really say.

Hi guys, thanks for you advice.

I went and saw the piercer just now, and they had a look and said yeh it looks a bit tight, but they were reluctant tochange it as it has been only a few days, and he said he couldnt say for sure that he would get the jewellry back in.

Im kinda pissed because I feel like they should have taken into account that I have lips like Angelina Jolie, and pierced it with a longer one.

Now I dont know what to do. I said I would come back at lunch and get him to change it, but now im thinking maybe I should just wait a bit longer (he said a few weeks) and see if it is still too tight.

I have put up a pic here.....what do you think? Does that look bad? And, in your experience, would he be able to get a stud through after 3 days?

Thanks in advance...here is the ugly pic!

If it is that tight I don't see how the healing process can even begin until they put properly fitted jewelry in. The current flatback can be your post-healing jewelry. smile

Hi BadKITTY...

So do you think they would be able to get the new jewellry through if they took this out now?
