It all started back on my birthday when I decided to ask my parents to get my tongue pierced. Generally they said no, but I wouldnt take no for an answer. I begged and pleaded with them and my dad said he would think about it. Well thats all I got for a very long time so I looked up facts about it and he kept saying he would think about it. Finally, on Thanksgiving he said I could get it on Christmas. I was excited for quite a while. A lot of my friends that had it done told me that it didnt hurt at all but i couldnt imagine it not hurting.( just think, a fat needle going through your tongue!) I also read a lot of stories on the internet and the people that wrote their stories said it wouldnt hurt. Then I read about a lot of things that could go wrong. Nothing to serious that scared the crap out of me. People will tell you many things that could go wrong but those mostly are all myths. Well, Christmas rolled around so I kept bringing up the tongue piercing to my dad and then we set a date for the 27th. I was excited and told a lot of my friends about it but they didnt believe me. On the 27th , we set off to go to a local piercing shop. At first I was really scared but it quickly faded when we pulled up. We went inside and there were a few people waiting to be served. We went to the front and filled out a few papers. Me being 15 meant I had to have a parent with me and to come into the room when I got it done. Finally my name was called. I quickly got nervous and then I was seated into a black chair. The woman was very nice and she answered a lot of my questions. She got me to gargle a little biotene and then dried my tongue with a paper towel and put a drool bib on me. When she dried my tongue she put the clap on it. Then she told me to breath in, so I did and when I breathed out she stuck the needle through. There was no pain! Just a little pinch. She put the stud in and she said all done. I couldnt believe it was so quick and painless. And after the stud was in she made me gargle a little more biotene. There was a little bit of blood. (perfectly normal) It has been about almost a month now and I am still loving it. I changed the stud to a smaller one and it is way more comfortable than the one she pierced it with. The one she pierced it with is a lot longer than the one that I have in now because your tongue swells so it needs more room. You have to eat different for a while so you wont bite your stud because it will chip your teeth.I've bitten mine twice but I was lucky enough not to chip my teeth. Also eat plenty of ice and take ibuprofen to keep the swelling down. If you are thinking of getting your tongue pierced dont think any longer and go get it done! -cruz
