I've had my new tongue piercing for 2 days. I got it done the day after I turned 18 and went with my mom and her boyfriend. I was so excited! This is something I've wanted since 12/13. After meeting the piercer and asking hims lots of questions I did it. He was very nice and told me to just breathe and relax as I was only making it worse for myself by being nervous. After the dot on the tongue he made sit there and told me that when I was relaxed to stick out my tongue...I wasn't relaxed but I stuck it out anyway and on with the piercing we went. The needle went through and as soon as it came out of the bottom, blood poured down my chin (I actually made a puddle on the piercing chair)but it really didn't hurt...it felt like a shot at the doctor's office (which is exactly what he said it would feel like). It felt fine the rest of the day but the next day (and especially the next night) it really swole up.So I've had issues eating and cold water is a godsend. My barbell feels tight, sore and uncomfortable and I have a lisp from the swelling but I've dealt with worse. It's really not so bad except for the heartbeat in the tongue on occasion and drooling at night. Oh yeah....I buprofen rocks (although I think I've become immune to it).
