I got my rook pierced a little over a month ago. I've been wanting to get my ear pierced for a long time, but wasn't sure what to get. My bf suggested the rook, which I'd never heard of. He showed me pics, and I loved it. I'd never seen anyone with it, so I decided to go with it.
I shopped around for prices, and talked to friends who had piercings already. At the recommendation of a few, I picked a tattoo shop about 45 miles from my house.
The girl that did my ear was great. A little too much of a perfectionist, but I'd rather that than a sloppy one.
She took a longgggggggggggg time after she clamped my ear, turning it this way and that to make sure she had it perfectly lined up. Now that hurt! She took so long, I asked if it was too late to change my mind. She laughed and said yep. And that's when she pierced it.
I didn't even know she had pierced it until I felt her take the clamp off a couple seconds later. The piercing didn't hurt at all. I read up a lot before I got this piercing, and saw that it was supposed to hurt a lot. I have a very low pain tolerance, but also thought "it's only going to hurt for a couple seconds, then it will be over". It didn't hurt.
The worst part was after. As in, accidently bumping it while drying my hair after a shower, turning onto that side while trying to sleep, etc. lol
I'd say if you're thinking of getting a rook piercing, do it. It's a awesome piercing, and easy to take care of.
