In my continued research about labrets (lol... it just keeps going on too.) I came across these pieces. My question is, can they be used in a new piercing? I'm looking for something not so glitzy. The piercing shouldn't be an issue, but just in case it is I need to have a back up plan. Back up plans are good. Especially in the industry I work in. I'm also looking at the quartz retainers. Any ideas would be most welcome.

I'd avoid plastics of all

Posted on September 16, 2008, 3:42 pm

I'd avoid plastics of all types during the healing. Besides the possible health risks, they can easily break and fall out...risking the loss of your piercing completely.

Retainers are intended to keep piercings open when a piercing needs to be "hidden" or otherwise kept open while regular jewelry can't be worn. They usually don't work well for healing a piercing.

In all honesty, I've never

In all honesty, I've never had to wear a retainer. I think I'm lucky that way. I'm not really sure what's going to work best to make a new piercing not exceptionally obvious. (I suppose other than not getting it.) Do you have any recommendations for things that would work best for that?

Quartz retainers should be

Quartz retainers should be fine in my opinion.

I'm just grateful everyday that you came in my life.
