Tongue piercings are
Posted on February 29, 2008, 7:14 pmTongue piercings are virtually painless to get, well in my expierience at least. The healing process is the major pain. Expect alot of swelling and soreness. Oh and expect to have difficulty eating. It really helped me to break the food up into little pieces and place it on the side of my mouth. Ice and Ibuprofen will be your best friend to help with the swelling. Make sure to have some sea salt on hand to make sea salt rinses for after meals. If you want to use mouthwash make sure its alcohol-free like Crest pro-health
Mine took about 2-3 weeks for the swelling to completely go away. About a month after being pierced, I went back to the piercers to downsize the barbell which felt so much better.
Good luck!!!

yea i agree with anxious
Posted on March 1, 2008, 12:45 amyea i agree with anxious tongue piercings are virtually painless. The swelling only lasted for about 2 days...maybe 3 when i had mine. It took about a week before i was back to normal with talking and eating with the exception of spicy foods. Make sure and stay away from spicy foods for at least the first couple weeks. Mine was a breeze to have done....wish I hadn't retired it now.

I think I am the only person
Posted on March 1, 2008, 10:45 amI think I am the only person who had a rough time with the swelling. It lasted like 2 months for me, I had to leave the long barbell in for like 2 1/2 months or better before I could downsize. Like everyone else has said, the piercing is virtually painless, but the first few days are a little rough. Good luck!

The piercing itself isn't
Posted on March 1, 2008, 11:14 amThe piercing itself isn't bad at all. The swelling is a bitch though. Mine was swollen for a couple weeks. The only thing I could eat was popsicles for a week. After a week I could eat french fries if I put them on the side of my mouth. I was able to downsize my barbell after 3 weeks.
As So Anxious said, ice and Ibuprofen will be your friends. Don't use mouthwash with alcohol in it.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I agree with everyone. When
Posted on March 1, 2008, 8:06 pmI agree with everyone. When I got mine, I couldn't eat so I drank slim fast for the first week, and that really helped, cuz I didn't feel like I was going to pass out from starvation. Good luck!!!!

Mine was very painless.
Posted on March 2, 2008, 12:02 amMine was very painless. Although the swelling lasted a week and half it wasn't that bad. Eating was difficult during that time but you do manage to work your way around it. During the healing process you might want to think about switching to softer kinds of foods.

I'm also with everyone else.
Posted on March 3, 2008, 6:47 amI'm also with everyone else. All 3 of my tongue piercings were pretty painless, even the one done at 8 and stretched to 6 right away. The swelling is a bitch, but it eventually goes away
It's called STRETCHING your piercings, not gauging them.

I want the tongue too, but I
Posted on March 8, 2008, 3:42 amI want the tongue too, but I think I'd need a week off work cos I serve customers all day. One couldn't do that with a fresh swollen tongue piercing could they? Wouldn't I sound really weird?
