Okay..hopefully photobucket
Posted on April 18, 2008, 7:37 pmOkay..hopefully photobucket doesn't decide they are too "naughty" like myspace did and delete them..
Here's the link to my photobucket page
There's 9 pictures as of today, but I'll be adding more in the next few days.
They might be a bit NSFW, just because some are bloody..

And the lisp I have must not be THAT bad.. I've been home all day and my parents haven't noticed anything is different

I think it's healing great.. it seems like the front part isn't as swollen as the back anymore, although he said the swelling may last about two weeks.

Posted on April 20, 2008, 5:35 pmSure
It's basically like taking care of a tongue piercing. When I'm not feeling lazy I rinse with the sea salt soaks..that's like once a day.
When I am lazy I'll rinse with the alcohol-less mouthwash after I'm done eating.
And try to remember to brush muh teeth twice a day.

Posted on May 8, 2008, 4:29 amSo, how long did it take to heal? Can you tell me more about the process and stuff?
Sque3z might do mine later this year...

Sorry it took me awhile to
Posted on May 9, 2008, 6:25 pmSorry it took me awhile to get back to ya on this
It's been a little under a month and although I don't think it's fully healed yet, it's looking way good. It looks much more rounded off now, although the piercer said it could take upto 3 months to look fully rounded off.
The healing went really easy, even though I was super paranoid about re-growth. Taking care of it was basically like a tongue piercing - rinse with alcohol-less mouthwash after eating, brush my teeth twice a day. I ate a lot easier than I ate with the healing tongue piercings - the day after I ate steak and potatoes without a problem
. The only thing I had problem eating for the first week is things like burgers and pizza. He said to expect some scabbing for the first few weeks, but I didn't notice much at all.
Umm.. when I went in to get it split they had me brush my teeth "like I've never brushed before" haha. After that he marked it and took the tongue piercing out. When it looked straight he injected me with the (I think it was) lidocane, because I was extremely nervous about it hurting like hell. We waited a few minutes for that to take effect, and he held a clamp on one side and his manager who was helping held a clamp on the other side. He then split it with the scaplel - I think it was like 3 quick stings and it was over. He told me that because of the lidocane it bled a hell of a lot less than they usually do.. I'd like to guess bleeding was over after about 15-20 minutes or so. To make the bleeding go down quicker they put pressure on it, and had me put gauze in my mouth, occasionally taking it out to rinse and start over. It bled a little bit on and off the next day, but it wasn't bad at all.. just occasionally spit out blood.
Close-up of it now:

A not so close-up of it now:

Umm.. I donno what else to say, any specific questions?
Mine is my favorite mod.
If you end up getting yours done later this year you'll love it
I might get mine split further back next spring or summer, but I'll know for sure when the time gets closer.
Edit: I forgot to add, that the middle was numb for quite awhile. I'm just starting to kind of get feeling in it. I've asked other people whos had theirs split and that's normal.

I got kicked off right when
Posted on May 11, 2008, 5:39 pmI got kicked off right when I hit post comment, lol.
I'm mostly worried about the ability to basically speak normally and talk with the halves together. I won't have more than a week before I have to go to work. And I just want it to be unnoticeable like I know they are once healed. It took me a whole day to realize Shad had his, and I already knew, lol.

lol sucks when that
Posted on May 11, 2008, 6:29 pmlol sucks when that happens.
You should be fine a week after you go back to work.. The swelling was down a lot with mine after 3 days. Most the people I work with don't know I have mine.

Awesome. That's all I'm
Posted on May 11, 2008, 6:45 pmAwesome. That's all I'm really worried about is being able to have it act normal in a reasonable amount of time so that I can get to work. I don't talk to people much for my job, but I still want to keep it hidden, for obvious reasons. I just want to know that I can choose, within a week or so, to have people know or not, lol.
Gawd I'm so excited. I really, really want this one.
And I'm excited to know who'll be doing it, too. It somehow makes it better to be someone I know and trust.

I hear ya there Some of the
Posted on May 11, 2008, 6:49 pmI hear ya there
Some of the people I work with aren't going to find out, simply because I've had tattoo magazines out in the break room.. I remember one with the Lizardman on it where two or three of the people were like "Yuck. Why would someone do that?" or "That's gross" to his split tongue. I love it how people know about it only if I want them to (Or if they hear it from someone else lol).
That's cool that someone you know knows how to do it.. that would make it a lot better, I think that's one of the reasons I was so nervous.

Do you mind taking a picture
Posted on May 11, 2008, 7:27 pmDo you mind taking a picture with the halves *together* so I can see what it looks like as normally as possible? I am not sure how easy that would be to do, but do you think you can?
