Some are just like that; maybe it's health issues; maybe it's placement; maybe who the heck knows, but when it's time, you know it.

Hehe, I'm not TOO upset..
Posted on August 16, 2008, 5:41 amHehe, I'm not TOO upset.. It's always sad to see a piercing go, but at the same time I can always get it re-pierced if I want it to be.
It's strange how much more that lobe has seemed to stretch itself - I can kind of see a space between the top of the jewelry and my lobe now without the vertical one in there.

Scalpelling
In order to quickly attain larger diameter piercings and avoid stretching, one can undergo a procedure known as scalpelling. Scapelling is currently practiced by a small number of body piercers, and involves cutting a slit in the tissue with a surgical scalpel then inserting the jewelry with the aid of a taper. Scalpelling does not remove any tissue.

I know everyone is
Posted on August 19, 2008, 10:42 pmI know everyone is different, but in general is it considered not as painful as stretching with only tapers? or is it just another method of stretching?

I'm not sure on the pain
Posted on August 20, 2008, 5:25 amI'm not sure on the pain level although stretching with a taper shouldn't really hurt much at all, but it's basically a quicker method of stretching. In stretching you only go one size at a time (well if you do it the right way lol), whereas if you get scalpelled you can go from one size to another -- like from nothing to 0 gauge, 5/8" to nearly an inch, and stuff like that.
One of the reasons I'm getting scalpelled vs stretching slowly is because I'm worried that my lobes are getting too thin and I don't want those babies to break on me. The piercer can scalpel it away from the thin-ness.
