Yayy brezza your thinking
Posted on April 16, 2008, 2:22 amYayy brezza your thinking about it! Before you know it, it will be on your mind all the time and you'll just give in and get it over with.. well that's what I did lol
Hmm well I always thought my nipples were small, but you'd be surprised!! They definately wouldn't be too small. When he was sizing me up against barbells, he had to get a longer one than the one he was holding first.. so that made me thinking hmm, they mustn't be super small after all!
*comes back*
OK I just seriously measured the horizontal length of my nipples for you HAHA. The unpierced one is 9 or 10mm in normal flat/non erect form. And the pierced one is 14mm! So yes piercing them definately does make them larger too, lol.

The reason i've never got
Posted on April 16, 2008, 3:55 amThe reason i've never got them is my breasts are flatish, and so I'm worried it would look a bit pants. Also, all my irrational body fears are concentrated on my boobs, just the idea makes me feel sick and slightly paralysed with fear.
The pain would really not be an issues for me.

Posted on April 17, 2008, 5:36 amhaha thanks for the measurements Shell.
Im seriously considering it...but maybe not in the near future as I wanna get my tragus and navel done before hand. Build myself up for the more painful one haha
Gracie my boobs aren't that big either. Since I lost heaps of weight they have gone down heaps but I thought I could still get them pierced, because it's really for me not anyone else.
Considering getting the one thats less sensitive pierced to be in the safe side..hmm

I am glad to see that you
Posted on April 17, 2008, 10:05 amI am glad to see that you are going to do this for yourself. a recent post was from a girl with B cups and was happy with the result. I read another post some time back on I believe BME about an A cup who did it to get some sensitivity in her nipples and that also worked for her.
My suggestion is have both done at the same time, that way you can do the healing process all at once and save yourself a dime or two at the shop, as most give a better rate doing both at the same sitting.

I find it funny when women
Posted on April 17, 2008, 11:17 amI find it funny when women worry about thier nipples not being big enough - men tend to have ity bity little nipples and they can be pierced just fine.
A nipple piercing on a small breast just makes it that much more glorious!
Btw - the pain isn't all that horrible. I would rather get pierced than have someone pinch my nipple tbh.

If you have never done this
Posted on April 18, 2008, 11:03 amIf you have never done this go on google and type your tribe name into the search bar. Trinity for example will come up with every church college highschool and anything and everything related to that name. It will also come up with things under the batcave name.

Hey, well I got both done at
Posted on April 23, 2008, 4:48 pmHey, well I got both done at the same time. One didn't hurt at all, but the second one did. I love my nipples pinched and pulled so they were ready as ever to be pierced lol. The piercer does use a clamp with a hole that pinches your nipple to hold it in place so he can line up the needle. It doesn't take long to do, but the healing time does, just follow the directions on cleaning them. My size nipples are not big or small. Go to my profile and you can see them. Believe me . .. you will love them after they are pierced. Good luck and let us know when you get them done.

i thought my nipples were
Posted on April 24, 2008, 7:55 ami thought my nipples were too small (and i hate my boobs) but it turns out that they were plenty big enough to get pierced. Ive also noticed that its a little bit bigger when its pierced.
I wouldnt get both done. Perhaps one, let it heal and then see if you like the results. Ive found that the nipple i didnt pierce has become more sensative! and the one that is pierced is the same as before lol.
Id recomend getting pierced with a straight barbell rather than a BCR. easier to clean and heals quicker, also less chance of it snagging. you can always change it to a ring when its healed.
It hurt when getting pierced, and for about an hour afterwards (quite badly) but after that its been puuuurfect. No crusties, bleeding, weeping or anything. Looks like an old well perfectly healed piercing (only 3 weeks old)
Id say go for it, and if you dont like it, you can always take it out.

Posted on April 27, 2008, 3:48 pmBrezza - depends on the shape of your nipple. Straight is more common.
Sugar - I beg to differ on the opinion of how many to get done at once. I would rather do both and get the healing over with. It takes almost a year and I would hate to wait that twice.

Breeza the straight barbell
Posted on April 28, 2008, 11:52 amBreeza the straight barbell is not a good plan if you do not have some curvature in your breast at the nipple site and have flat nipples. If the beads on the barbell are going to put pressure on the piercing go with the curved barbell. Chances are that you would have no problem with the straight barbell. You should be able to tell, just by looking at your anatomy.

Posted on April 29, 2008, 3:50 amThats great peeps. I thought the straight barbell would be alright as my boobs aren't that big. I am a 12B generally, not sure what that changes into for US sizing.

Posted on April 29, 2008, 3:02 pmI do not know either, but in the U.S. the B cup would be the measurement across the fullest part being 5cm larger than the band size. The B cup here is the average size breast.

Piercing the nipples makes
Posted on October 11, 2008, 5:33 amPiercing the nipples makes them bigger, they used to use it to get rid of flat/inverted nipple. I had pretty small nipples before I got mine done and they have definitely increased slightly. As for your bra size, I think they look great on any size breats. Go for it!

Posted on October 11, 2008, 7:42 am"used to use it to get rid of flat/inverted nipple"
I'm curious about this reference. As far as I'm aware, that's not a historical or medical practice, and people with inverted nipples are still being pierced. It does have the effect of "curing" the inverted nipple, but I think that most people who get pierced are not really doing it for that reason.

Posted on October 11, 2008, 11:16 amThe size of a nipple can be inverted, protrude more than the average be of a small diameter or much larger. Who in the hell cares, I sure don't. They all have the same functions on you girls. For us guys they are nice scenery and if we are lucky play toys. My nips are of average size for a guy and are pierced both vert and horiz so no lass should have any problem with the piercing.

Yes, I can't remember where
Posted on October 11, 2008, 7:44 pmYes, I can't remember where I read this, but if I come across it again I will post up a link. It was an interesting article on nipple piercings and their uses/appearances throughout history (god knows who researched and wrote it, it may not be reliable). But it stated that arounnd the 17-18 hundreds (as I remember) piercing nipples was used to enlarge small nipples, make inverted nipples less inverted etc, mainly so breast feeding would be easier.

I would regard that article
Posted on October 13, 2008, 5:07 pmI would regard that article with extreme skepticism. Much of the purported "historical" facts about piercings were completely made up by Doug Malloy, one of the influential players in 20th century piercing. Because there is so little actual historical information about piercing, this stuff was picked up and repeated and repeated in later literature until it was taken for fact.

Posted on October 14, 2008, 1:26 pmOh wow. I didn't know that, Cloud, that's so strange. But in that case, you are probably right. ALthough I do know that it is still recommended to women who they think have too small nipples for breast feeding (complete bollocks I know) in countries without proper medical care, by the quacks.

Posted on October 14, 2008, 9:09 pmThe increase in size of a nipple after being pierced is slight and would be useless to have any effect on breast feeding. It may be of some value to the woman who has a "flat" nipple and having it protrude a little more after being pierced.

Posted on October 14, 2008, 9:18 pmIf you can find a cite to a source that says that nipples "used to be pierced" to cure inverted nipples, I'd like to see it.
If you have not read Jim Ward's series on The Gauntlet's piercings, it's on BME. It's ESSENTIAL reading for all piercing fans. Here's the link to the article about Doug Malloy (which does not contain the bit about inverted nipples, I see).

I think I've found the
Posted on October 15, 2008, 9:32 amI think I've found the original site I read a while ago about the history of nipple piercings which says: "Nipple piercing is very effective for increasing the size of small nipples (especially men's), and can stop nipples from becoming inverted by pulling them out. In fact, it was recommended by doctors in Victorian England to increase the size of the nipples to make breastfeeding easier". How accurate and well researched this is I do not know, but I doubt that it is completely reliable.
As for the treatment of inverted nipples the practice is listed all over, even breifly on medical websites and many women claim to have 'cured' them by going to get them pierced as well if you look for experiences.
"Notably, there is a report of the use of nipple rings as a treatment for inverted nipples, enabling breastfeeding to proceed"
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16786205?ordinalpos=1&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DiscoveryPanel.Pubmed_Discovery_RA&linkpos=5&log$=relatedarticles&logdbfrom=pubmed
"Although non-surgery treatments exist, such as nipple suction devices, nipple piercing and nipple stimulation, surgery is generally understood to be the most reliable and most permanent method of treating inverted nipples."
Whether these treatments genuinely work or are advisable I do not know, but they certainly don't seem to be piercing myth.
The only thing I can find to say that this was used in the past was what a nurse turned piercer had to say, so I doubt that part was true, although I do not know her sources. And another piercing website, but I have seen this exact passage somewhere else, so I do not know the orignal source.
However, she notes that in the 18th century, nipple piercings were a common treatment for women with inverted nipples who wanted to breastfeed.
"Some people have their nipples pierced in an attempt to reverse inverted nipples. Indeed, Victorian doctors used to prescribe nipple piercing as a potential cure for both inverted and small nipples in order that they would be better able to breast feed."
I found this too which looks pretty amazing:
http://news.bmezine.com/2006/11/09/lucky-bmegirl-thursday-615/
I actually really enjoyed looking up all this medical stuff! There's loads online about it.
I had the choice after gcse's of pursue medical career or pursue ancient languages, both of which I was passionate about, and I chose the languages, so I kinda regret that sometimes when I get sidetracked for hours reading medical websites haha!

I haven't had the time yet
Posted on October 17, 2008, 8:54 amI haven't had the time yet to check out all those excellent links, Ms. Carpe, but I will. Thanks!
I remain skeptical of any "historical" piercing claims, especially those of the Victorian era.
No, Prince Albert did not wear a "dressing ring." As far as I'm aware, there is no actual evidence for that. There may have been a brief fad for nipple piercings, but in an era where no one even spoke the word "arm" or "leg," let alone breast or nipple, outside of underground porn, I think it's highly unlikely that this practice would be documented.
A subject for someone's dissertation, hopefully.
