White stuff is lymph, completely normal. Yellowish-brown stuff is puss, a sign of infection. Other signs: warmth to the touch, redness, pain.. obviously redness and pain are normal for a new piercing, but if they get worse instead of better, it's not a good thing.

its still a fresh piercing ... so that can be expected ... to many sss can dry it out so try some hot compresses and tell her not to put that much stress on that ear. my industrial hurt for 4 months and lymph came out of it for 2 so ... just take care of it with sss a few times a day ... and hot compresses in between ... hopefully it gets better!

If you even SUSPECT infection, go check it out. Cartilage is mostly supplied by the blood vessels in the surrounding tissue so once infection starts it can be extremely difficult to stop.

Cartilage infections can permanently deform the shape of an ear, so see a doctor if you have ANY suspicion at all.

John is Correct on that one Cartilage is not a good thing to get infected you dont want to end up with ear collapse or anything like that. See your piercer or just go to the DR.

It sounds normal to me, depending on the shade of yellow the crusties are. But if you're worried you must get it checked out.

Cartilage and all piercings will lymph throughout the healing period. Around 12 months for an industrial. Of course the crusties will come back - but that is a sign of healing. Cleaning 2-3 times a day is sufficient. DO not pick at them or rotate the jewelry. Just soak and wipe them off with a paper towel.
