Late last night, I was checking email, and I thought my AVG wanted to update. So, I clicked the little update box and all of a sudden, I don't have updates to AVG, I have antivirus 2009 on my computer. And it won't shut up or stop alerting me every time I do anything on my computer. I'm surprised a box isn't popping up now going: wait, don't type this, that's a security risk!

I want it off my computer. All it keeps asking is if I will pay to activate it. Oh, wait, a box just did pop up telling me I have no license. I hate this thing. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT.

I want it off my computer, now. I went to the help page for the thing, and it said, we've made this very easy to install! Just one click and it's on your computer! To uninstall, download and run this link. However, the link pops up as a security threat under antivirus 2009. Great. I ignored that. It won't let me save it to my computer and it will not run. So I can't get this Bad Words thing off my computer. Wait, another window telling me to enable this thing. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT.

I have emailed support to see if they can tell me how to get it off my computer.

Does anyone else here have any idea on how to remove this stinking piece of Bad Words from my computer? I can't even turn it off! It won't let me change the start-up functions without purchasing the license...

Antivirus 2009 is a new

Posted on November 23, 2008, 9:53 am

Antivirus 2009 is a new rogue anti-spyware program. It is also a clone of Antivirus 2008 - also a rogue, and one that's produced more clones than any other recently. The list of these clones is long: System Antivirus 2008, Ultimate Antivirus 2008, Vista Antivirus 2008, XP Antivirus 2008 etc.

Like any other of it's predecessors, Antivirus2009 uses trojans, such as Zlob or Vundo, to spread. These trojans lurk in porn/warez websites disguised as video codecs, and, upon entering the system, floods the user with popups and fake system notifications, supposedly to inform him of an infection. While the system at hand may indeed be infected, Antivirus 2009 will inform the user of this regardless of whether it's true or not. The point of this disinformation is to convince the user he is infected and therefore needs an antispyware program to dispose of the threat. The user might click on one of the popups or notifications, all of which claim they will take him to a legitimate security tool, but try to make him purchase Antivirus2009's "licensed version" instead. Antivirus2009 may redirect web browser to antivirus-premium-scan.com, webscannertools.com, googlescanners-360.com, livesecurityinfo.com, antivirusonlivescan.com, bestantivirusscan.com, antivirus-best.com, internetquarantinesite.com, premiumlivescan.com and secureclick1.com websites that sell the malware. Some of these website are not only fraudulent, but they are also malicious. they are capable of installing additional malwares.

Antivirus 2009 is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block it's websites using your HOSTS file.

Posted on November 23, 2008, 2:16 pm

What I hate about it is that you can go to a website and my McAfee will say its safe, then I'll actually put my cursor over something, or something, and the stupid thing will start trying to download itself, at which point, I emergency shut down before it gets the chance to complete itself. Pain in the ass. It's happened to me maybe 3 or 4 times in the last couple of months, at one point it actually managed to download itself.

Just out of curiosity... what types of sites do you all go to that automatically downloads this stuff? I've never had any trouble, and lord knows I go to some shady websites on occasion.
