I skip my period quite a bit
Posted on September 26, 2008, 2:46 amI skip my period quite a bit and so my body now doesn't know when it actually is going to bleed. I'm hopefully getting my VCH tomorrow and I would usually be stopping my active pills tomorrow night for a week, but instead I'm just going to keep taking them and skip next week's bleeding.
Do you think its still OK to get it done tomorrow? I don't have sore boobs or any of those other signs I usually get a few days before my period because I'm on the pill and I skip the period at random times. So I don't feel like I am in that pre-sensitive time...

Ah well guess I'll find out! lol

Posted on September 26, 2008, 6:50 amwell, that's a good point, Shellectra. It's been years since I've taken the pill, so I'm not sure if that would change things.
You know your own body best.

I think you'd be ok, Shell.
Posted on September 26, 2008, 7:23 pmI think you'd be ok, Shell. Generally, the pill gets rid of a lot of pms symptons.

Ya know, I'm chiming in
Posted on September 27, 2008, 1:10 amYa know, I'm chiming in here. Please, bear in mind I am a guy. Nipple piercings can take months to heal. So, no matter when you have one done, you will endure the tenderness which comes with the menstrual cycle.
For myself, I can't plan piercings around hormonal cycles. A feeling builds up, and I just realize it's time. That confidence carries a lot of weight.
I don't mean to contradict Cloud. But...more than one factor figures into when you get a piercing.

oh, I agree absolutely--many
Posted on September 27, 2008, 6:54 amoh, I agree absolutely--many factors. It's just something to be aware of, particularly if a girl is particularly sensitive to hormonal changes.

I can definately see how
Posted on September 27, 2008, 7:06 amI can definately see how getting a piercing during that PMS time right before your period could be more painful though, I'm just overall more sensitive at that time -- both mentally AND physically!

Posted on September 27, 2008, 4:12 pmI think it would be really really awkword to get a genital piercing while on my period. None of my genital piercings got sore while I was on it, but wow did my nipples the first few months! I'm so not looking forward to that when I get them re-pierced..
It's called STRETCHING your piercings, not gauging them.

Trish I agree with you!
Posted on September 27, 2008, 5:01 pmTrish I agree with you! I've had my nipples pierced for a little over three weeks, and had no problems other than the normal tenderness the first few days. It's PMS time and they're starting to get a little fussy. Dang hormones! They're evil!

Posted on September 27, 2008, 6:09 pmVery good information that I hadn't really thought of before to pass on, though i have noticed it with my own piercings. I hope you don't mind, but I stickied it so everyone would get a chance to see, as it is very good advice.

After asking the
Posted on October 6, 2008, 12:52 pmAfter asking the contraindications question, I booked my appt for my VCH and then rebooked it due to a menstrual clash. Hum....
FIP: In preparation, I took Arnica 30c in a split dose, 1 @ 9am a few hours prior to the appt, 1 @ 9pm and 1 @9am the following day.
Piercing goes great, Julie does a fab job, jewellry positioned and then home time....
24 hrs later, my damn period starts. I took a Mefenemic Acid tablet for baaaaad menstrual cramps. FIO, I heartily recommend mefenamic acid for those of you who suffer bad pain.
http://www.drugs.com/ppa/mefenamic-acid.html
I had a little bleed within a few hours; no swelling; no bruising and no pain. The salt rinses can irritate me, so I just showered twice daily
10 days later: Healed; no pain/swelling; lots of (various positions) sex
If anyone wants to discuss the homeopathic options available to them, please email me.

I think this is excellent
Posted on November 19, 2008, 12:32 amI think this is excellent advice, both Cloud's original post and what you've added!
I also know that as soon as I've started menstruating, my body isn't as sensitive to these kinds of things anymore, and I bet it's probably just like getting pierced at any other time in my cycle, but I'm sure lots of women feel sensitive throughout their periods too. It's good to pay attention to it in any case, and think about it a little when planning piercings, if that's the way you go about it!

no, we can't. We do not
Posted on November 24, 2008, 11:03 amno, we can't. We do not allow self-piercing discussions on this forum. Clit piercings are not common or recommended, either.
Consult with a professional piercer.

Posted on November 26, 2008, 2:56 pmThanks Annieeee!!!
FIPO: Remember that when you take Arnica or any other homeopathic remedy, there are things you should avoid for a few days if possible or for a few hours either side of the remedy. They are coffe; tea; mint toothpaste (anything minty); garlic, basically anything strong flavoured.
There are alternatives for 'puncture' wounds (that is what a piercing is clasifed as) but Arnica is the easiest to obtain.

I'm considering a vch - i'm
Posted on January 3, 2009, 9:03 amI'm considering a vch - i'm 44yo, and am more terrified of the piercing experience and my own body issues with a 'stranger' than i am about having the actual vch in place. any suggestions appreciated -

As long as you trim things
Posted on December 7, 2008, 8:26 pmAs long as you trim things you are fine. You just don't want any hair to be able to get tangled in the jewelry.
The pain is minimal and the healing is crazy fast....just wash well before you go, find a piercer you trust and there wont be ANY awkward feeling and if you want, bring a wet wipe to use just before you get pierced.
Never miss someone from your past - there is a reason they did not make it to your future.

Posted on December 7, 2008, 8:48 pmthank you so much! My husband of 14yrs is intrigued, and I've just started doing my research. the finding someone you trust part is probably going to be that hard part! can you recommend any search resources? APP has turned up only 2 or 3 shops in my state (missouri). it's kind of tricky to find people to ask about "recommendations"... LOL I don't personally know many women with obvious body mods to ask -

Hi Jemez, Many women are
Posted on December 15, 2008, 4:09 pmHi Jemez,
Many women are suited to the VCH, hence its popularity. Finding the piercer is the most difficult part; they will have seen as many genitals as a gynaecologist. They really won't be interested any further than a professionsl sense, i.e., are you anatomically suited to the piercing??
Its over in seconds and not clamping your legs shut when the spike goes through...
I was 43 when I got mine. DOH loves it. Your probably will too.
