This is one of the oldest breeds in France. It orignated in Normandy France and is named for a town in the provine of Normandy. It has 4 toes and is all black in color. It lays white eggs. Crevecoeur are raised as primarily show birds in North America and England. It has a V shaped, bright red comb. Black and horn beak, reddish bay eyes, leaden blue shanks and toes. It also has a creast of feathers on it head.

Its ALBC priority is Critcal. Crevecoeur is now very rare worldwide.
