Hey there- I've had my frenum for a little over 6 months. Within the past few months it has become extremely painful for sex. Oral really irritates it but sex seems to be ok once I get going but by then it's already sore. It got really swollen and irritated so I went to see the piercer but she suggested not taking it out, obvious reasons like the healing time I endured and that I like it and risk of infection with taking it out when irritated. I ended up going to a dermatologist who examined my penis from a distance and gave me cream and within a couple weeks it healed.

So my questions is what is wrong with my penis? Does this mean maybe the barbell is too loose? Better jewelry I can put in. I can't imagine that people have to wait two weeks after having sex to have sex again. Any suggestions? Should I just lose it even though I really love it and went through a lot to get it?

It may have been pierced at a funny angle or something, but if your jewelry does not fit properly, then that can play a HUUUUGE role in it not being comfortable. Think of it this way - is it comfortable to wear shoes that are 3 sizes too big with no laces?

Proper frenums are supposed to be really nice for sex so if you are experiencing all this trouble I would wonder if something was not done the right way. They also generally heal very rapidly.

Never miss someone from your past - there is a reason they did not make it to your future.

You know, it is pierced funny. It's at a 35 angle or so. I didn't think about that. Healing was fast but maybe tighter jewelry would help. I wonder if they straighten it out and re-pierce the one side it would help?

I shouldn't think angle would matter all that much. Is it a close fit when you're erect? If it's too long, it may be pulling the hole back and forwards, and that would not be nice. *cringe*

No, there's quite a bit of room when erect, but I think the friction is probably moving it back and forth. I actually went to see the piercer over lunch and he said I should put olive oil on it (?) because it's getting dry. I can also take the barbell out for sex I guess which I didn't know. He didn't recommend a smaller size or a different type of jewelry. Was considering a CBR but I'm not sure how they measure that or what the difference in fit would be between erect and flaccid.

Thanks for all of the attention to my peener!

BadKitty is spot on. The importance of jewelry of the correct size/material/design is generally under-appreciated.

I really don't like what I'm hearing about your piercer. If I were you, I'd find another.

I was about to make the same comment! I keep mentally visualizing a guy with his morning wood walking down the hallway, tripping, and falling.

Actually, I think it's possible to have a broken penis, if it sustains trauma. I thought I read somewhere . . .

My mammalogy professor had a large buck knife with a baculum handle. Forgot what species it was from, but obviously something big.
