I'm just happy that I work
Posted on November 28, 2008, 10:56 amI'm just happy that I work in the afternoon and miss all the chaos from the morning. My store will be deader than dead today after about 4pm once everyone is home for good, suffering from sleep deprevation and turkey hangovers.

You couldn't pay me enough.
Posted on November 28, 2008, 4:21 pmYou couldn't pay me enough. What is wrong with people?
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/shopping_blog/2008/11/wal-mart-employ.ht...
"Overeager shoppers jostling to get into a Wal-Mart on New York's Long Island trampled an employee to death this morning in the rush to snatch some good deals.
Also caught in that chaos at the Valley Stream, N.Y., store: a 28-year-old pregnant woman and at least three other shoppers who suffered minor injuries.
According to a police statement, the death happened at 5:03 a.m., minutes after Wal-Marts across the country opened their doors to the holiday rush.
The employee, a 34-year-old man, suffered "an undetermined death" when a "throng of shoppers ... physically broke down the doors, knocking him to the ground," according to the statement. He was declared dead at a nearby hospital at 6:03 a.m."

isnt the Wii nornally $250?
Posted on November 28, 2008, 4:31 pmisnt the Wii nornally $250? My MIL bought one 2 weeks ago for that price.
I went to Best Buy on the way home from babysitting and it was a cake walk. I walked in got the game I wanted for my nephew and left. The family I baby sat for the mom works there and said it was not as crowded as they hoped.
I wouldnt have gone shopping anyway. I hate being pushed and shoved by people trying to save $5.
them. People need to get alife and realize saving a few bucks is really not worth hurting others or as the article Phal posted kill some one.

Posted on November 28, 2008, 7:13 pmWTF is wrong with people...SRSLY! Why is it so important to save money that you would be willing to kill someone to get what you want?! This seriously makes me so angry and confused and feel bad for the poor people who died/were injured.
And in the master’s chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

out of me... Black Friday crowds would make me have a panic attack in two minutes flat.
On a bright note, I did, in fact, get some use out of the sales today by buying online... Got some warm clothes for Ireland.

In my Thursday Chicago
Posted on November 28, 2008, 10:50 pmIn my Thursday Chicago Tribune there were so many sale fliers that I could not catch enough fish to require that much paper to wrap the garbage. I also did not see anything that I would walk across the street for that I can not get next week for the same or a better price without the hassle. Oh I did go to the market for milk, chicken breasts and Fritos.

I survived my 2nd Black
Posted on November 29, 2008, 1:07 amI survived my 2nd Black Friday and all I can say is that it was awesome! I couldn't believe the number of 'vultures' in our store before 10p on Thanksgiving night and were there until after 5a Friday! I was looking forward to this day and I was not disappointed, I'm just glad I'm not register-trained! This story did put a damper on the entire thing though...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081129/ap_on_re_us/wal_mart_death
...and this line just absolutely amazes me,...'Shoppers stepped over the man on the ground and streamed into the store. When told to leave, they complained that they had been in line since Thursday morning...
A man is dead and all they were concerned with was not getting the opportunity to shop!

Here's a new one.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27957714/
"Two men pulled guns and shot each other to death in a crowded toy store Friday after the women with them erupted into a bloody brawl, witnesses said. Scared shoppers fled but no one else was hurt.
The violence erupted on Black Friday, the traditional post-Thanksgiving start of the holiday shopping surge, but authorities indicated the shooting wasn't related to a shopping frenzy."

I got a great deal online
Posted on November 29, 2008, 8:17 amI got a great deal online for the Nintendo DS lite bundle at Walmart. I actually WENT to a Walmart store yesterday (but not until 10:00 am)
that get up early crap. Unless I am looking for that 60 inch friggin plasma for $800 there is NO WAY I am standing in line for 4 hours or more and freezing my buttocks off to be trampled by "pro" shoppers interested in getting the latest betsy wetsy doll for their already spoiled child who has 100+ webkinz
. Seriously, I love my kids and I am so sure someday I will be one of "those" parents, but as long as I have the internet, I have no reason whatsoever to have to fight crowds - shipping and handling is well worth paying to save myself grief and aggravation.
I'm not the girl next door. I'm the bitch down the street.

I can't deal with packed
Posted on November 30, 2008, 12:20 pmI can't deal with packed stores. Claustrophobia starts sinking in the moment I walk through the door, and just builds until I can barely breathe.
I do get sappy, though, this time of year...it is a time to try and help your fellow people find a bit of extra happiness. The extra cost of ordering online is just worth it.
Btw, there is nothing wrong with webkinz!
My baby girl has about 12 of them and is nowhere near spoiled.
Actually, there's a website where kids can register their webkinz, and play with them, entertain them, feed them, etc. I was honestly really impressed when my daughter told me she had to be careful how many webkinz she registered. She explained, there were only so many she could care for and keep happy in a day, so she had to pick carefully. Not bad for an 8 year old.
