For school everything we write in our humanities classes has to be done in APA style. You could be the best writer in your class but if you don't follow the style guide your project/assignment will not be accepted and you'll receive a zero.

I'm writing a literature review for my research project due in December. I had been following the guidelines posted in the journals on the APA website, especially taking note of the example given. I put it aside for a couple weeks to think, came back, and the example no longer exists. I am uncomfortable following any "APA" examples given by other websites. I can follow the guidelines but having the example handy was useful.

Now I am slightly panicked as I am already a month behind submitting this damn thing. My teachers give me more time to write things than other students for various reasons I don't feel like getting into.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you just need examples of how to cite works within your text or the general APA format for your writing a review?

No, I know how to cite things, I just need the format for the review. The structure of it, I guess, is what I'm needing. I've done a lot of different documents but this is the first time I've had to do a review like this. I don't want to mess up it up and I've heard my teacher is being really difficult about it.

My secondary research is a bitch. Two of my sources are 71 page and 38 page documents I bought online - sooo long. As for primary, I have a focus group of 20, which isn't bad for a high school project, haha. It's similar to last year when I got myself into a maximum security prison to interview violent criminals and was paying gang members (like, real ones, not the ones at school) in alcohol to do one-on-one interviews. I don't do things half-assed, haha. I'm surprised I came out of that unscathed. This time it's research on family structures so it's not going to be dangerous.

Haha, that would be the APP. Sticking out tongue

Sorry gbp, never used that style, I used to use MLA, but we focused mainly on Jane Schaffer.

ETA: I'm not sure if these will help or not, but what the hell I'll post'em:

APA and MLA is the devil.

APA and MLA is the devil. I'm all about the Chicago Manual of Style and its stripped down version Turabian.

I have found Hacker to be the best source on APA. I had to use MLA for all of my BS course work but for some reason (same school) my MBA and MSHR were APA...go figure.

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6

I agree, the book by Diana Hacker is my formatting/citing bible.
